Sound Storage Management, Inc. has been providing consultation, feasibility studies, set-up, and management services to self storage owners since 1986, formerly under the name of Dean Nichols & Associates, Inc. The principle shareholder, Lynn Prather, is Past President and current Treasurer of the Washington State Self Storage Association and has spent over ten years managing and consulting self storage facilities. Lynn purchased the business from Dean Nichols in January 2004. Dean continues to work with Sound Storage in a consulting capacity. He is a member of the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants. He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration and has worked as a Certified Public Accountant. In addition, he spent four years managing a large Northwest law firm. All of this experience and professional training is applied to help make our storage facilities some of the best-managed and most profitable facilities in the country.

Sound Storage Management, Inc. specializes in feasibility studies and the set-up and management of self-storage facilities and currently operates over 3,800 storage units and over 400,000 square feet at seven facilities within Snohomish, King, Whatcom and Pierce Counties, Washington State. We are a company that has incorporated modern technology and hands-on experience into the efficient operation of profitable and proficient storage facilities. We use computers at each facility to track activity on a daily basis and transmit that information via internet to our home office for daily review. In addition, we conduct facility visits and communicate regularly with our facility managers to develop ideas for better operations and to solve any specific problems they might have, as well as problems that are common to all facilities. We do periodic "facility audits" to check for malfeasance and to help improve facility performance. We also have developed unique and facility-specific operations manuals, customized forms, and training tools to assist facility managers in operating facilities in a consistent and professional manner (available for review upon request). The majority of the facilities we manage operate at 90 per cent or above occupancy. We understand the industry and we have the professional skills, expertise, and knowledge to manage and improve the performance of your facility.
